Many Marathons for Stride for Stride
Fall 2024 has been a very busy running season for Team Stride for Stride.
Fall 2024 has been a very busy running season for Team Stride for Stride.
We had 50 runners in the Maine Marathon & Half on October 6th in Portland. Three of our our team members ran their first marathon in Maine with times of 2:33, 3:03, and 3:21. Great times for first timers!
Yesterday, Stride for Stride had 28 women run the Boston 10K for Women - a great women-only race in downtown Boston, And, 16 Stride for Stride team members ran the Chicago Marathon yesterday - one of six world major marathons. Stride for Stride continues to grow and we continue to become stronger distance runners.
And, in less than three weeks Stride for Stride will have 18 runners competing in the NYC Marathon - the biggest marathon in the world with 50,000 runners. Included in that field is Tom and Jorge who will be running their first marathon together since their kidney transplant in January. It’s extremely rare for a kidney donor and their kidney recipient to run a marathon together, and we’re excited to show that kidney donors save lives.
Tom is running the NYC Marathon to give hope to Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) patients who are waiting for a life-saving kidney donation - kidney recipients can lead very active lives post-transplant. And, Jorge is most definitely proof that kidney donors can run marathons post-transplant. In fact, Jorge ran the Chicago marathon yesterday and in three weeks he will run the NYC Marathon. He’s a superhero!
