This weekend Team Stride for Stride was very busy with races in New York City, DC, LA, and in New Bedford, MA.
On Saturday, Jorge ran his second half-marathon (the DC Half) since his kidney donation to Tom on January 10, 2024. Jorge is proof that kidney donors can lead very active and very healthy lives post-transplant. [To read our story see the image at the bottom of this thread.]
Today, Stride for Stride had nine runners in the NYC Half - one of the best half marathons in the country with 25,000 runners and the only race that runs through Times Square. And, Stride for Stride had five runners compete in the Los Angeles Marathon this morning. Congrats team!
A huge thank you to our NYC Half Charity runners - Daunielle, Alejandra, Veronica, & Miguel - who raised over $5,000 for Stride for Stride. Thank you! Thank you!
Some of our fastest runners ran the New Bedford Half where Antonio finished 13th overall with a time of 1:10.
Tom continues to get stronger, just two months after a kidney transplant, with a 6.5 mile run along the Charles River on Saturday. From ‘Kindness’:
“I’m just starting to fully realize how incredible a kidney donation is - now that I’m feeling good. Very good, actually. I feel as good as I did before I was diagnosed. Jorge gave me life again. Donors truly save lives.”
To read more about Jorge’s incredible gift of kindness please order Tom’s book ‘Kindness’ which talks about how Tom & Jorge met, the struggles CKD patients go through while on dialysis and during post-transplant.
